The Owls Under-21s slipped to their first defeat of the campaign away at Colchester on Tuesday afternoon.
Donell Thomas gave the hosts the lead at the Maldon Stadium after 20 minutes before Bailey Cadamarteri struck his first goal of the campaign just moments later to restore parity.
A minute before the interval, the U’s regained their lead through Charlie Owen who found the smallest of gaps to squeeze the ball into the net after the Owls failed to clear from a free kick.
Thomas made sure of the points by rifling home his second of the afternoon 20 minutes from time.
Neil Thompson’s Under-21s are back at Stocksbridge on Friday afternoon facing Charlton (2:00pm).
Supporters are welcome at Bracken Moor, with free admission for all.
