Fun day raises funds for Bluebell Wood

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice has delivered a note of thanks to Wednesday fans for their generosity at the recent Owls in the Park event.

The fun day attracted a crowd of more than 12,000 supporters and raised a grand total of £633 for the charity through a bucket collection and prize draws held on the day.

The hospice, based in North Anston, Sheffield, is the Official Charity Partner of the SWFC Community Programme, and provides care and support to families who have a child who is not expected to live into adulthood.

It costs £3m every year to provide this service to families in the region, and Bluebell Wood receives no statutory government funding, relying on donations to continue its work.

Sarah Champion, Chief Executive of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “This was a fantastic fun day out for our families and they all had a wonderful time.

“It was great to be able to give our children this extra special treat, we’re extremely grateful to Sheffield Wednesday for their support and are very much looking forward to working closely with them for the 2012/2013 season.”

In addition The Sheffield Star kindly donated £200 to Bluebell Wood at the request of Sheffield Wednesday FC in respect of the club providing media content of the Owls’ pre-season tour in Portugal.
