Team news

Derby: New signing James O’Connor could be line to feature on Saturday despite suffering with a thigh injury that kept the defender out of the midweek cup defeat to Scunthorpe.

Midfielder Jeff Hendrick (wrist) is a doubt while Craig Bryson and Gareth Roberts are expected to shrug off their respective minor injury concerns.

The Rams suffered a midweek League Cup defeat to Scunthorpe on penalties after drawing 5-5 at full time. Derby were leading 5-3 but the Iron scored twice in added time to force the game into extra time.

Owls: Wednesday have no fresh injury concerns heading into the clash against Derby County at Pride Park.

Chris Lines (groin) will remain sidelined but striking duo Gary Madine and Chris Maguire are both in contention having come through training after picking up minor knocks against Oldham in midweek.

View from the dugout

Dave Jones said: "The Championship is a tough, tough division and it gets stronger every year. We have to be competitive, trust each other and believe in our abilities and battle for every single point."

Nigel Clough said: "It’s going to be very difficult to dust ourselves down after our midweek defeat. We’ve got to re-focus and remember Sheffield Wednesday at home is all that matters now.”

Listen to the game live from Pride Park on Wednesday Player. Coverage begins at 2.30pm and Player will have all the post-match reaction of the opening Championship fixture.
