Mayor signs

17 August 2012

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Danny Mayor from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.

The pacy winger has inked a three-year contract at Hillsborough.

Mayor rose through the academy ranks to the first team at Deepdale and, after a successful loan spell with Tranmere Rovers, went on to make 64 senior appearances for Preston.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a raft of Championship clubs since the turn of 2012 and is delighted with his switch to S6.

He said: “This club is massive and I couldn’t be happier with this move.

“I have a lot to be grateful for at Preston and I would like to thank everybody there for their support.

“But this is the start of the next stage of my career and I am really excited.

“I have played in the Championship before and now I’m looking forward to playing at that level again with Wednesday.”

Mayor has been allocated squad number 18 for the Owls.
