Wednesday 1-1 West Brom
The Owls continued their pre-season campaign by posting a 1-1 draw with Premiership side West Brom at Hillsborough.
Slovenian international Nejc Pecnik scored for Wednesday the first half but Peter Odemwingie levelled for the Baggies with just two minutes to go.
Dave Jones gave a starting shirt to striker Marlon Harewood, while fellow trialists Gorka Larrea and Marek Jarolim had to be content with places on the bench.
The visitors, meanwhile, fielded a full-strength side as new head coach Steve Clarke firmed up his preparations ahead of the 2012/13 campaign.
Wednesday started the game well, playing some neat passing football, with Jermaine Johnson typically at the heart of the attacking threat.
The pace ace let one shot fly from the angle of the penalty area on 15 minutes that just evaded the far post before curling another effort narrowly over the bar moments later.
James Morrison went close with a thunderous drive at the other end and Shane Long might have done better in on goal following a clever link-up with James Morrison.
But it was the Owls that struck first 33 minutes in. Chris Lines teed up Pecnik 20 yards from goal and the new recruit looped a curling shot that nestled into the top corner beyond Ben Foster.
It was as you were for both sides after the break but Wednesday soon made two changes, with Jarolim coming on for the injured Lines and Chris O’Grady replaced Harewood.
The Baggies then enjoyed a period of dominance and Zoltan Gera could and should have equalised on the hour after Graham Dorrans slipped in a delightful ball but the Hungarian slotted wide past the advancing Chris Kirkland.
Wednesday responded with Jermaine Johnson forcing Foster into a diving save and the game developed into an even affair as the clock ticked down.
Substitute Simon Cox volleyed wide in the closing stages and just as is seemed the Owls were heading for a win, Odemwingie struck from distance to hand Albion a share of the spoils.
