Dave Jones says his team is ready to go with two weeks left before the curtain rises on the 2012/13 Championship campaign.
The Owls and West Brom shared the spoils in an entertaining friendly at Hillsborough on Saturday and the manager is now counting down the days to the season proper.
He said: “It was a good workout for us and I think anyone who saw that game can see that we are ready to go.
“I have nothing but admiration for the players because they have worked so hard in pre-season and you saw that today.
“West Brom are a very good side and we gave them a very good game so I am pleased.
“They move the ball very quickly in the final third and we had to deal with that.
“There were some excellent performances out there, we looked very assured on the ball and we moved the ball well.
“It was a solid performance overall. It got bitty towards the end with all the substitutions but we are pleased with the display and what we are trying to do.”
Nejc Pecnik scored his maiden goal for the Owls and Jones has been impressed with the qualities of the Slovenian international midfielder.
He said: “Nejc is a very accomplished player and he scored a good goal today.
“He will offer a lot for us and I have been really pleased with what he have seen from him so far.”
The only real downside of the afternoon was a groin injury to Chris Lines in the second half. The playmaker was stretchered off in some discomfort and Jones says he will be assessed over the weekend.
He added: “He just popped a groin so we will have him scanned, probably on Sunday, and take it from there.”
