Dave Jones hailed the importance of a valuable victory as the Owls posted a 2-0 win over Charlton on Saturday.
Goals either side of half time from Rhys McCabe and Jeremy Helan secured three points for the Owls and a second successive win following last weekend’s triumph at Barnsley.
Jones said: “When you are where we are, you have to fight and scratch for the points and give everything you’ve got, and that’s what we did today.
“They worked their socks off and I’m so pleased for them because they deserve it. You have to earn your luck and that’s what we have done.
“We are out of the bottom three and that’s important psychologically.
“We have a hectic period of games over the Christmas period and we will utilise the squad.
“The games are coming thick and fast and this is a good time to put some points on the board.
“The win today keeps the pressure on the teams around us but we want more teams to be dragged into it and the only way to do that is by winning your own games.
“We don’t want three from four down there or five, we want three from ten or twelve.”
Jones paid tribute to goalscorers McCabe and Helan, both of whom notched their maiden strikes for Wednesday.
The manager said: “They were both magnificent goals and real moments of quality.
“Rhys has that in his locker, it doesn’t matter if the ball falls on his left foot or his right foot, because he has the ability to do that.
“I thought Jeremy did really well for his goal and it rounded off an excellent performance for the boy.
“We put him in there because we brought Reda back and we just felt we needed that little more protection and Jeremy gave us that.
“He is a talented young player and I would like to keep him, so I will sit down with the chairman and see where we will go with Jeremy and Mamady Sidibe.”
