The Owls Under-21s lost out 3-0 to an experienced Derby County side on Monday afternoon at Moor Farm.
Nicky Weaver, Reda Johnson and Nejc Pecnik all featured for the Owls in the 1.00pm kick off.
Mason Bennett struck first for the Rams, striking past Weaver in the Owls goal from Nathan Tyson’s cross on 22 minutes.
Pecnik almost got the Owls back on level terms on the stroke of half time when his volley drifted just wide of Frank Fielding’s far post.
But four minutes after the restart, Tyson doubled Derby’s lead to strengthen the home side’s grip on the game.
Caolen Lavery saw his half volley fly inches over the crossbar as Wednesday threatened to come back into the game.
But it was not to be for the Development Squad, as the Rams wrapped up the win in the 90th minute when Bennett drilled the ball home into the bottom corner – claiming his second goal of the game.
