Music stage confirmed for Community Day

Popular Sheffield singer Jon McClure is helping to make Sheffield Wednesday's forthcoming 'Owls in the Park Community Fun Day' one to remember.

The Reverend and the Makers frontman will be gathering the cream of Sheffield's up and coming music scene together to entertain the crowds at Hillsborough Park on Saturday 14 July.

Jon is making space in his hectic schedule, which has seen the recent release of Reverend and the Makers' latest album ('@Reverend_Makers') as well as the band playing huge gigs with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, to help curate the music stage on behalf of his favourite football team.

McClure told swfc.co.uk: "I'm a massive supporter of Sheffield Wednesday and a huge fan of the brilliant music scene Sheffield has going on at the minute, so when this opportunity came along to help both out together at the same time I jumped at the chance.

"There are some fantastic local bands and this will give them the opportunity to be heard in front of a large audience in Hillsborough Park."

Confirmed acts performing during the event include The Hot Soles, Loveboat, Liberty Ship and Abandoned Faith. More bands will be confirmed before the event, keep your eyes on the official Sheffield Wednesday Facebook Page for more announcements.

Owls in the Park takes place between 11.00am and 5.30pm on Saturday 14 July at Hillsborough Park.

The Wednesday first team squad will be in attendance signing autographs as the club launch the official away strip for the 2012-13 Championship campaign.

Entrance to Owls in the Park is free.
