Dave Jones says there will be no room for any sentiment when he returns to former club Cardiff for the first time since his departure some 18 months ago.
The Owls travel to face the Bluebirds on Sunday and Jones underlined that his only concern is a win for his current employers.
He said: “I was there for six years and I had a lot of success and some good times but it wouldn’t matter if I was there for 20 years because all I want this weekend is three points for Sheffield Wednesday.
“They are the club that I work for, who employ me to do a job, and Sheffield Wednesday are my concern on Sunday.
“It doesn’t bother me one way or the other what kind of reception I receive because I am completely focused on the job I have to do here, as we all are.
“We have a difficult game but we are going there to win. I have never managed a team thinking we are going to lose.
“We have a good group of players here and we are capable of beating anyone in this division. I will defend them to the hilt.”
Jones may shuffle his pack for the Cardiff clash as Wednesday bid to reverse a run of five successive defeats.
Lewis Buxton, Anthony Gardner, Rhys McCabe and Jay Bothroyd each sustained injuries during the midweek loss to Watford and Jones will assess the situation over the weekend:
“We have a few injury problems and we will see where we are with that tomorrow and Sunday.
“We could make changes anyway and everyone in this group who is available will be considered.
“When a player gets a chance he has to take it. Even if he comes on for the last five minutes of a game, that is a chance.
“But every player at this football club gets an opportunity every day he is here. Every player is monitored in everything that he does.
“We do things professionally, we do things the right way because that is the only way.”
