Owls skipper Martin Taylor is out to grab his opportunity with both hands should the defender be recalled to the starting line-up this weekend.
Wednesday host in-form Leicester at Hillsborough and the Owls captain could be in line to start against the Foxes, with Miguel Llera suspended after picking up his fifth caution of the season.
If given the chance, Taylor is aiming to show all the attributes that prompted manager Dave Jones to bring the experienced campaigner to the club in August.
He told swfc.co.uk: “Like I’ve always said, if you’re not in the team you have to keep training well and I have been doing that.
“If I do get the opportunity to play at the weekend, hopefully I can go out on the pitch and show my best form.
“There’s not much else you can do other than wait for your opportunity because it will come. I want to go out there and show the type of player that I am.
“I need to get in the team and earn the right to play week in, week out because that’s what I’m used to.
“I’m just going to look forward from now, I want to get in the side and help the team to get some wins under the belt.”
The task is set to be a tough one on Saturday with Leicester arriving in S6 on the back of their 6-0 thrashing of Ipswich last weekend.
On the Foxes, Taylor said: “Leicester had a great result at the weekend and they are a side in form at the moment.
“We know they are a good side and have got good players. We’ll have to be at 100 per cent to get a result but I don’t think we have seen anything in the league so far that is too far away from us.
“I think the fact we are creating good chances and getting into good positions is a big positive for us and I’m sure things will turn for us soon.”
