Owls boss' vote of thanks

2 November 2012

Dave Jones has issued a vote of thanks to Owls fans for standing by both him and his team during the recent run of results that triggered a drop into the Championship relegation zone.

Last Saturday’s emphatic win at Ipswich brought to an end a dismal spell for the Owls and Jones says that the unshakeable backing from the stands, home and away, has proved pivotal.

“I do have to say a special thank you to the supporters for sticking by us so patiently,” said the Wednesday manager.

“I know you have all felt the frustrations of the past few weeks and believe me, everyone has worked so hard on the training ground to try and put things right.

“I think everyone can see what we are trying to do because the support we have had, both home and away, has been second to none.

“It makes such a difference to the players and they know how fortunate they are to play in front of the supporters of Sheffield Wednesday.

“The Championship is a new division and no one has ever said it is going to be easy. But we can see the progress as the weeks have gone by, it was just the results not matching the performances.

“We are in a results business, though, and now, obviously, we want to go from strength to strength throughout the season.”

The Owls host Peterborough on Saturday afternoon and tickets are available from just £22 (Membership applies).

There will be a pay on the day facility on all home stands but supporters are urged to buy in advance to avoid unnecessary queues.
