Derby delight for Under-21s

27 October 2012

The Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s made it three wins on the bounce with a 2-0 home win over local rivals Barnsley on Saturday.

Goals either side of half time from Caolan Lavery and Josh Windass gave the Owls the win over the Reds at Middlewood Road.

Owls Development Squad coach Lee Bullen said: “We were excellent in the first half and very professional in the second.

“Barnsley fielded a strong and experienced side after half time with the likes of Mido, Jim O’Brien and John Rooney playing so it was always going to be tough coming up against those players.

“But I’m delighted for them and they have deserved their success today.”

On another positive note, Owls midfield man Chris Lines stored 60 minutes under his belt as he nears his return to first team action.
