Owls triumph in Sheffield derby

6 October 2012

The Owls Under-18s posted an impressive 4-3 win over win over Sheffield United in the eventful clash at Middlewood Road on Saturday.

The Blades led the way at half time by two goals to nil but goals from Simon Hannah and Elias Moses levelled the score after the break.

The Blades then regained their one-goal advantage but the Owls came back once again with Nick Hague grabbing an equaliser for the home side.

The comeback was completed five minutes from time when Charlie Dawes continued his good form in front of goal by netting a late winner for Wednesday in the Sheffield derby.

Academy coach Nev Burbeary said: “It was a really good game. Sheffield United were the better side in the first half but we changed the system at half time and came out with more purpose.

“It was definitely a game of two halves and we’re delighted to keep our winning run going – which is now five straight victories for the lads.”
