The Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s lost 2-1 on the road against Leicester City on Saturday.
The Owls named a young side for the trip to face the Foxes with three youngsters drafted in from the SWFC Under-18 side and Development Squad regular, Caolan Lavery away on first team duty.
The home side led the way at half time by a single goal before Josh Windass equalised for Wednesday from a well-taken free kick.
But the Foxes snatched all three points with a free kick of their own later in the half and Development Squad coach Lee Bullen said:
“I was so frustrated after losing to Huddersfield last week and although we lost by the same score, I was really pleased with how we performed.
“Don’t get me wrong, I hate losing but if you are going to lose, that’s the way to do it with a performance like that.
“We were 1-0 down at half time but came out after the break and were excellent.
“They were a very tall side and that’s probably what cost us in the end because they headed home the winner from a free kick and Arron Jameson could nothing to keep it out.
“But onwards and upwards now. The lads have a big game to prepare for next against Sheffield United and we are really looking forward to that one.”
The Owls Under-21s face the Blades Under-21s at Hillsborough on Tuesday 9 October, 7.00pm kick off.
