Lee seeks Saints tonic

Defender Kieran Lee is confident the Owls can make a swift return to winning ways after four consecutive league defeats.

The former Oldham man, who made his debut on Saturday against Bolton at Hillsborough, feels his side are more than capable of turning things around.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It was a very physical game against Bolton and another game that has gone against us.

“We have had a string of results that have gone against us but we are a confident group and we need to put those games behind us and focus on getting back to winning ways.

“We need things to come together quickly and start picking up points.”

Wednesday face a tough trip to Premier League side Southampton in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, where Lee is hoping for a positive result after the Owls’ previous successes over Oldham and Fulham in the competition.

He went on: “I think all it could take is one lucky break and that could set us off on another run.

“We had a good start to the season and we want to get back to that. Southampton will be a tough game, there’s no doubt about that, but as I said, we are a confident group and we’ll give it everything we have got.

“I’m beginning to feel a lot sharper and fitter but there is still plenty more to come from me I feel.

“I knew when I signed I wasn’t going to walk straight into the team but when you get a chance, you have to take it and hopefully I’ll get a few more games now and show what I can do.”
