Positive response

19 September 2012

The Owls take on local rivals Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough on Wednesday night and boss Dave Jones is calling for a positive response from two straight defeats.

Wednesday went down to Crystal Palace and Brighton in successive games but Jones has hailed the huge strides the club has taken in a short space of time and is confident his side can get back on track.

He said: “We need a positive result after the defeats at Crystal Palace and Brighton. But we would be looking for a positive result no matter what the result of previous games.

“We have lost two games but it’s important that we don’t panic and start making mass changes for changes sake.

“This was always going to happen in the Championship, it happens in the Premiership and it happens at every level.

“It’s been a long time since this football club lost back to back games so we don’t want to lose sight of where we have come in a short period.”

Jones is certain he has the tools at his disposal to get his back to winning ways – if the Owls can eliminate the mistakes that are currently proving costly.

He added: “The important thing is, there’s not a great deal in it, it’s a fine line and we are caught between two stools and making wrong decisions in the wrong areas.

“Sometimes you do have to put the ball in Row Z. So it’s about finding that right balance because at the moment, we’re just getting it wrong.

“There are certain things you can get away with in the division we have just come out of but not in the Championship, where teams will just punish you.

“The good thing is, I know it will come because we are not that far away.”
