Taylor out for success

4 September 2012

Owls new recruit Martin Taylor has revealed the opportunity to move to Hillsborough was one he could not let pass by.

The experienced defender completed his move to Wednesday from Watford on transfer deadline day and is excited by the potential at the club.

The former Birmingham defender said: “I knew there had been some interest in me for a while from Sheffield Wednesday and that really attracted me because it’s a fantastic club.

“The opportunity to come and play here was too good to turn down.

“There’s a great team spirit here and you can tell that straight away and I’m looking forward to getting in that group. The lads have welcomed me and I can see they have a lot of quality and a lot of endeavour.”

The 32-year-old arrives in S6 with bags of experience in England’s top two divisions with spells at the likes of Birmingham, Watford and Blackburn.

The imposing stopper believes all the necessary ingredients for success are present in S6 and explained:

“There is a lot of potential here to really push on, particularly because of the players that are here, the size of the club and the fanbase.

“We have a really good opportunity to finish at the right end of the league.

“There’s a good mixture of players here, some younger players and some with experience. I know this division and hopefully my experience will help.

“There are a lot of strong teams in the Championship and it shows by how the teams who were relegated from the Premier League have started, they have not had it their own way.

“I think it will be a really tough league this year but with everything I have seen so far at this club, I think we will be at the right end.”
