Dave Jones has said the Owls’ clash against Yorkshire rivals Leeds on Saturday has all the ingredients of an exciting affair.
Wednesday head to West Yorkshire for the 12.30pm kick-off in good form with three wins from the last four games.
Victory over Millwall in midweek saw the Owls climb further away from danger, now six points clear, and Jones says the recent point haul is a reflection of the hard work behind the scenes in S6.
He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s no coincidence we’re up near the top of the form league table because we’ve worked hard for it, it hasn’t just happened, nobody has just given it to us.
“Everyone is working really hard to make sure that continues. We now have a big derby game, it will be exciting and it has all the ingredients to be a great game.”
Leeds, under the guidance of newly appointed manager Brian McDermott, will be aiming to get back on track after going seven games without posting a Championship win.
But Jones is expecting a stern test from the Elland Road side and added:
“They’re a good team with good players. They were flying but seem to have hit the buffers a little bit of late but I’m sure they will want to finish on a high.
“It’s a big derby because it’s Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday.
“Everybody will be fired up, there will be a full house and we’ll have a lot of fans there. It has all the potential to live up to what the game is being billed as.”
