Hillsborough to Anfield run

30 April 2013

This year saw the team of runners and 13 support crew take on 96 miles between Hillsborough and Anfield ‘In memory of the 96 for a brighter future.’

Leading up to the run, the team experienced some scares with the weather, which merely made the runners more determined to succeed.

They duly succeeded but not before visiting the Children’s Hospital in Sheffield and Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. Both were beneficiaries of all funds raised by the run.

Team leader Dom Williams said: “We are truly grateful for the warm support we received in Sheffield and especially from Sheffield Wednesday FC, it really gave us a boost before setting off.

“Not only did we get full support in terms of using the stadium for our start point but the generosity SWFC showed in helping us put smiles on the faces of some very sick kids at the Children’s Hospitals in Sheffield and Liverpool was unbelievable.

“An SWFC signed shirt will be included in an online auction that will see us raise over £10,000, which makes the total in excess of £25,000 in the two years we have been running!

“This would not have been possible without the support of SWFC and we look forward to next year when we hope to take that total much higher.”
