Owls take on the Terriers

18 April 2013

The Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s will play Huddersfield at Middlewood Road on Friday 19 April at 1.00pm.

The Owls were second best to the Terriers last time out, losing 2-1 to their local rivals at Canalside.

Harry Grant gave the Owls the initiative in the 76th minute, before a Jordan Sinnott penalty and a Godwin Abadaki finish sent the Owls home empty handed.

Development Squad Head Coach Lee Bullen expressed his excitement for the upcoming fixture and has high hopes that his team can set the record straight: “We’re looking forward to the game.

“Over the past month, I’ve been really happy with how the lads have performed. We’ve had a couple of good wins.

“In the game at Huddersfield, we were 1-0 up and quite comfortable; they hadn’t given us any problems.

“Then we made two individual errors in the space of two minutes and we ended up losing the game 2-1.

“That can happen at this level, but it can also happen at the top level. Players make mistakes and individual errors and we got punished for them.

“So credit to Huddersfield for taking their opportunities, but we should have seen the game out if I’m honest.

“But we’ve had a couple of good games against Huddersfield in the reserves and at Under-21 level throughout the season so far, so we’re looking forward to it.

“The pitch is getting very dry and bumpy now which can affect certain standards but I’ve told the lads, do not use any excuses. Go out there, stick at it and show what you can do.”
