Under-21s fall to Forest

8 April 2013

The Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s lost out 2-1 away at Nottingham Forest on Monday afternoon.

First half goals from ex-Owl Marcus Tudgay and Deimantas Petravicius did the damage for the hosts.

Matthew Fletcher pulled a late goal for Wednesday but it proved just a consolation for Lee Bullen’s men.

The home side took the initiative after just ten minutes when Tudgay picked up possession deep in Wednesday territory before slotting home past Adam Davies.

Forest doubled their lead on 20 minutes, as Petravicius fired home from 25 yards.

Tudgay flicked on to the Lithuanian who struck sweetly into the back of the net to strengthen the home side’s grip on the game.

The score remained the same until the 72nd minute, when the Owls halved the deficit.

After dominating the majority of the second half and creating plenty in the final third, the Owls were rewarded for their efforts with a goal.

Substitute Emmanuel Dieseruvwe picked out Fletcher on the left, who finished neatly past Dimitar Evtimov.

The Owls continued to push for the equaliser, but couldn’t find the back of the net in the remaining minutes of the game.

Owls: Davies, Moses, McKenzie, Watkins-Clark, Stevenson, Corry, Hery, Mayor (Dieseruvwe 65), Hinchliffe, Fletcher, Lavery
