Calm heads

30 August 2013

Dave Jones is asking for calm heads in the camp ahead of the Owls’ trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Wednesday head north to The Riverside Stadium seeking their first win of the new campaign and the manager says panic is the last thing on anyone’s mind.

“We are only four games into the season and although we haven’t won yet, we could quite easily have won each of those four games.

“We need to stay calm and keep our focus for the right results to come.

“You could say we are unbeaten from our last two or you could say we haven’t won our last two. It’s all about how you spin the statistics and how an individual looks at them.

“I’m sure Tony (Mowbray) will be saying similar things because Middlesbrough haven’t won a game yet at home but they have won one away.

“But we know they are a good side capable of beating anyone on their day and I’m sure they would say the same about us.”

Jones welcomes Jermaine Johnson back into the fold following the Jamaican’s three-match ban from the red card received in the Capital One Cup clash with Rotherham.

And the Owls’ chief has revealed JJ is champing at the bit for a return to duty.

He added: “His attitude has been great in training but then that is never an issue. He has been sent off a few times in his career and that is something he has to learn to control.

“He is available for selection, he really wants to play, and I am pleased to have that option back.”
