Kamil Zayatte is all set to sample the atmosphere at Hillsborough for the first time in league action this weekend.
The former Hull man featured in the Owls’ pre-season friendly against Rangers in S6 but is eager to experience the Hillsborough crowd in the Championship.
After back to back games on the road, the opening home game of the 2013/14 season against Burnley is something that excites Zayatte.
The defender said: “We played away last week so I am excited to play at Hillsborough for the first time on Saturday.
“There will be a big crowd and I can’t wait.
“I’m looking forward to playing in our stadium and showing the supporters what we can do.”
Zayatte, who signed a two-year deal with Wednesday ahead of the new term, took plenty of encouragement from last weekend’s game at QPR and believes the squad will grow stronger and stronger.
One familiar face at the club for the Guinea international is ex-Hull team mate Anthony Gardner.
The two central defenders struck up a partnership during their time together at the KC Stadium and Zayatte is hopeful the two stoppers can pick up where they left off.
“We played together at Hull and now we are finding our connection again,” he said. “That is coming along more and more as we play and train together.
“He is a very good player and I like to play alongside him.
“But we have a good team, with good players, including a mixture of youth and experience and for me, we will get better and better.”
The 28-year-old has said Wednesday must build on their performance against QPR last weekend and that with similar desire and endeavour, the Owls will have more than enough to claim their first win of the season.
He added: “We played well against QPR, we didn’t get the result but we did well. We need to keep up those levels on Saturday.
“We will play our game, stick to our plan and if we play like we did against QPR we can win this game.”
