The Owls have been buoyed by the return to action of Lewis Buxton and Reda Johnson and manager Dave Jones is delighted to have the duo back in the fold.
Jones feels his side should have more to show from their performances this season but believes having senior players back available for selection is key to Wednesday building on last weekend’s point at Leeds.
Ahead of Saturday’s home fixture with Millwall, Jones said:
“We thought we played well and deserved something at QPR and we certainly deserved something from our second half performance against Burnley.
“We know the performances are there, we just need everybody up and running to give us the strength that is required at this level.
“We need our first team squad up and running because that gives us the best opportunity.
“We’re in full flight now, we feel we are getting stronger and we will get better.”
Wednesday face a Millwall side that has struggled in the early throes of the Championship campaign.
Steve Lomas’ side are yet to register a point or a goal in league action, but assessing the Lions’ squad, Jones expects the South-East London outfit to come to Hillsborough at full force in order to get off the mark.
“When you look at the squad Millwall have got, there are some quality, experienced players in there," Jones said.
“They have Premiership-cum-top-Championship players within their camp, so we have to be at our best and can’t take anything for granted.
“There seems to be a steeliness about us at the moment but we have to stay focused and concentrate.
“The team you are facing will always have spells in the game but that’s when we have to dig in.
“We have to be right in every department and our preparations for this game started straight after the full time whistle against Leeds."
