Owls undone at Stocksbridge

2 August 2013

The Owls Under-21s were edged out in a physical contest on Friday evening against Stocksbridge, going down 4-3 at the Look Local Stadium.

The home side quickly raced into a two-goal lead before Caolan Lavery halved the deficit applying a neat finish from Paul Corry’s through ball.

Stocksbridge re-established their strong grip on the game after half time and added two further goals to their tally but at 4-1, the young Owls side battled back as Adam Hinchliffe and Rafa Floro scored to make for a close finish.

Development squad coach Lee Bullen said: “Defensively I was disappointed tonight because I felt we struggled to deal with the physical nature of the game and the direct style of Stocksbridge.

“Some of our decision making was suspect but on a more positive note, the goals we scored were fantastic and of a very high quality."
