Dave Jones has hailed the work ethic rife throughout Hillsborough as the Owls continue their climb up the Championship table.
Saturday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace was earned by what the manager tagged ‘a dogged performance’ and symptomatic of the evident graft on and off the pitch.
He said: “We are working from within and it is showing in all aspects of our game. There is a fantastic work ethic in this football club, from the chairman all the way down.
“He loves the club, loves the place and it is a super place to come to work to. Everybody gets on, they enjoy each other’s company and that is a real plus.
“The supports come in their thousands, they make for a terrific atmosphere and we are all so grateful for that.
“The players are a really good group and they now have a real determined look about them and some real belief.
“They just don’t look like they are a going to concede, never mind lose, and it is credit to them for that.
“They deserve all the praise they are getting because they have put the work in and are now getting the rewards.”
Jones picked out midfield duo David Prutton and Giles Coke following the Palace triumph – and also reserved a mention for goalscorer Leroy Lita.
He added: “That’s what Leroy does and that’s why we brought him here because he makes a difference.
“We had barely got the ball to him for most of the game and then he pops up with the deciding goal.
“He deserves credit for that and behind him, I thought David Prutton and Giles Coke were outstanding in the midfield.
“Behind them, the defence was solid and I don’t remember Chris Kirkland having a great deal to do.
“I am pleased for all of them because when we were losing games, we were playing well and they kept at it, they didn’t feel sorry for themselves or sulk.
“They continue to put the work in and they are doing all the right things, now they are getting what they deserve.”
