Captain calls for character

8 January 2013

Skipper Martin Taylor has called for the Owls to show character this weekend ahead of their trip to high-flyers Hull.

The Tigers are unbeaten in nine and sit second in the npower Championship but Taylor believes some of the Owls’ best performances of the season have come away from home.

Wednesday gathered seven points from their previous three away fixtures against Barnsley, Bolton and Huddersfield and Taylor expects another solid showing.

On Saturday’s early evening kick off, the captain said: “We’ve played some of our best stuff away from home when we’ve been really up against it.

“Hull City is a great opportunity for us to do it again and to show our character.”

The Owls head into the Yorkshire derby with one defeat in six and, although the odds are stacked in favour of a home win, Taylor believes his side can gain a positive result at the KC Stadium.

“They’re in good form at the moment and playing very well,” he added. “But so were Cardiff when we went there and we very nearly got something that day.

“The things we’ve been working on all season are beginning to fall into place.”
