Sky Blues overcome Owls

27 January 2013

The Owls’ Under-21s went down 3-1 to Coventry at the Nuneaton Stadium on Monday afternoon.

With the contest seemingly heading goalless at the interval, the hosts grabbed two quickfire goals that served as the platform for victory.

The first had an element of fortune too as Hayden White deflected a low drive from David Bell into his own net.

Adam Barton then struck from distance to give the Sky Blues a clear half time advantage.

Coventry had the chance to go 3-0 up early in the second half when White felled Callum Wilson in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Daniel Phillskirk took a well-placed penalty but Owls keeper Adam Davies did well to parry to safety.

Wednesday halved the arrears through Bastien Hery with five minutes to go but the Midlanders promptly restored their two-goal advantage with a Wilson strike a minute later.
