Upsetting the odds

11 January 2013

The odds may be stacked in favour of a home win this weekend as Hull host Wednesday but loan striker Mamady Sidibe can see an upset on the cards.

The Owls face the Tigers on Saturday live on Sky (5.20pm kick off) and Sidibe, who has been buoyed by recent away performances, is heading to the KC Stadium in confident fashion.

“We’ve proved we can win games especially away from home,” the Stoke loanee said. “We did well at Barnsley, Bolton and at Huddersfield I felt we should have won.

“Hull are in the top two but there is plenty of confidence in the squad.

“Like we did at Bolton, we’ll go there and give everything. Nobody gave us a chance but we won the game and on Saturday, we will go to Hull and I’m sure it will be a good game.”

Sidibe is due to stay at Hillsborough until the 19th of this month and, although the striker is uncertain over what his future will bring after this time, the 33-year-old is focused on the present with Wednesday.

He said: “I don’t know what will happen, I’m here now on loan and that’s what I’m fully concentrating on.

“The only thing I can do is keep playing and trying my best for Sheffield Wednesday while I’m here.

It’s been a long journey back for me but to come here and play in league games has been a massive plus for me and it gives me hope as well.

“It’s been a difficult time because as a footballer you want to be playing and not doing rehab all the time but to be back on the pitch and playing is fantastic.”
