Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank the thousands of fans who helped make Owls in the Park even bigger and better than last year.
An estimated 15,000 supporters flocked to Hillsborough Park on Sunday exceeding the 12,000 who attended in 2012.
Crowds queued to be amongst the first to purchase the new 2013/14 away shirt before getting them signed and posing for photos with Dave Jones’ and the Owls stars.
The free event, in association with Dennis Hobson Promotions, featured an array of activities throughout the day including a live music stage showcasing up and coming bands, a huge screen displaying season highlights and a family funfair.
New additions this year were Yorkshire’s biggest fun dog show hosted by Support Dogs, a towering climbing wall, exotic animals from The Butterfly House and the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind who gave visitors the chance to try out Goalball.
The SWFC community programme's inflatable pitch, face painting, penalty shootouts and multi sports activities also went down a treat with young Owls on the day.
Mascots Ozzie and Barney greeted youngsters and with the addition of real-life Owls available for photo opportunities, it certainly made for a fun-filled day!
Chairman Milan Mandaric met many of the fans and was delighted with the turnout.
He said: “Last year’s event was special but this year was just incredible; to see so many Sheffield Wednesday families all together was so good for everyone at the club.”
“Everyone who was in Hillsborough Park between 11.00am and 6.00pm on Sunday saw exactly what this club is all about.”
Sheffield Wednesday would, once again, like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended.
