Owls announce guest of honour

20 June 2013

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Vickie Priestley, will be Sheffield Wednesday’s guest of honour at the Owls in the Park community fun day on Sunday 30 June at Hillsborough Park.

Councillor Priestley has been a City Councillor for some 12 years, initially being elected for the Walkley Ward. For the past nine years, she has been an elected councillor for Stannington.

Vickie has served on a number of committees and as a cabinet advisor and was part of the team that introduced the Community Justice Panel to Sheffield.

She will arrive at Hillsborough Park around midday.

Owls in the Park 2013 is on course to surpass the inaugural event last summer that drew over 10,000 Wednesdayites to the club’s annual fun day.

In addition to a raft of attractions, supporters will again be able to meet and pose for pictures with the players and get their brand new 2013/14 away shirts signed.

The Wednesday kit for next season’s games on the road will be on sale for the first time on Sunday week.

Owls in the Park 2013 in association with Dennis Hobson promotions is free to enter and kicks off at 11.00am.

The event will feature a wide range of fun-filled activities, including South Yorkshire Police and Fire and Rescue Service demonstrations, the country’s largest dog show hosted by the Sheffield charity Support Dogs, and live music from an array of local and national talent.

The Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme will also be on hand to entertain fans with activities for all the family!
