International call

15 March 2013

Young Owl Cameron Dawson has been selected for the England Under-19s’ squad for the friendly clash with Turkey on Thursday 21 March.

The call continues Dawson’s steady progress on the international stage.

The Wednesday academy product recently represented the England Under-18s in the Three Lions’ final game of the campaign against Belgium at the Tivoli Stadium, La Louvière.

The game ended in defeat for England as Belgium scored in the 69th minute to secure a 1-0 win, but Dawson had earlier left the field.

The 17-year-old was named in the starting line-up and stored an hour under the belt before being replaced by Middlesbrough’s Luke Coddington.

The Belgian contest was Dawson’s second appearance for the young England side this season having featured against Italy in October 2012.

In addition, the fledgling custodian has been invited to various England training camps, the most recent of which came back in November when talented young English goalkeepers were put through their paces at an Under-18s school at St. George’s Park.

The Under-19s game with Turkey will take place at The New Bucks Head Stadium, Telford AFC.
