Dressed to impress

6 November 2013

Youngsters were dressed to impress when three Owls players turned up at their soccer camp as special guest judges for their creepy costume competition.

Kids attending half-term sessions at the SWFC Training Ground really made the effort for Halloween with the eeriest entries including famous horror film characters, witches, werewolves and vampires.

Players Stephen McPhail, Paul Corry and Adam Davies were on hand to judge the contest and picked out eight-year-old Illias Coogan from Loxley and his terrifying Joke outfit as winner.

Illias, a regular at the camps, was over the moon with his win and received football signed by the Sheffield Wednesday team as his prize.

He said: “The soccer camps at Sheffield Wednesday are always great fun and we all loved getting dressed up for the Halloween fancy dress competition.

“Meeting the players was a brilliant surprise and for them to choose me as winner made the day even better.”

Sheffield Wednesday hosts football and multisport camps during all school breaks at locations across the city and further afield.

The camps, hosted by trained coaches from the club’s Community Programme, offer young Owls, aged five to 14, the chance to learn valuable skills in a fun and safe environment.
