Sheffield Wednesday have been awarded the League Managers Association Performance of the Week following last Saturday’s emphatic win over Reading.
The Owls swept the Royals aside with a 5-2 win that marked their maiden victory of the season and now results in the LMA award.
The five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, unanimously agreed that the Performance of the Week should go to the Owls.
Manager Dave Jones will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award.
He said after the game: "I feel it's the reward for the players for the hard work that they've been doing. We just needed to turn the draws into wins and everything that could go for us went for us and those are the days you've got to enjoy.”
