Owls striker Connor Wickham will donate over £1,700 to charity following an Armistice Day appeal on Twitter.
The England Under-21s star, on loan to Wednesday from Sunderland, will give £1,730 to Help for Heroes after pledging to donate 10p for every retweet of his post between 10.00am and 11.00am.
Wickham received a huge 17,300 retweets in just 60 minutes and following the two-minute silence he returned to the social network site to confirm the final result.
He tweeted: “17.3k retweets is amazing… meaning £1,730 to @HelpforHeroes. A big thank you to everyone who retweeted, you’re helping your country!”
