Sheffield Wednesday have signed academy graduate Joe Wildsmith on a professional contract.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a two and a half year deal.
The Sheffield product is a highly-rated custodian and has impressed sufficiently to earn his maiden contract.
He told swfc.co.uk: “I couldn’t be happier, this is a dream come true for me and now I want to build on what I have achieved and go from strength to strength.
“I want to carry on learning and I will do that working with the likes of Chris Kirkland. Damian Martinez from Arsenal has already been a big help to me.
“I’ve worked with Cameron Dawson for a long time now and we are good friends who can only help make each other better.
“I’d also like to thank my parents for their support, they have always been there for me since Sunday league and I can only say how grateful I am for that.”
