The Owls’ Under-18s bounced back from last week’s defeat at Ipswich with an impressive 2-1 win on home soil against Bristol City on Saturday.
Charlie Dawes continued his rich goalscoring form when he poked in Jack Stobbs’ free kick in the first half but City were immediately back on level terms following an excellent team move.
Wednesday’s pressure after the break paid off on the hour when Sean Mullan’s shot was handled in the area and Dawes stepped up to score from the spot and settle the game.
Man of the match Stobbs said: “I am absolutely buzzing. We’re looking like a team and it was my best performance of the season.”
The Owls’ youngsters are next in action on Saturday 23 November at Derby.
