Glad to be back

26 October 2013

Midfielder Seyi Olofinjana was delighted to be back involved for Wednesday on Saturday as the Owls gained a point at Oakwell.

Olofinjana, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Hillsborough last season, signed a new deal with the club on Friday and was thrust straight into the action against Barnsley in the lunchtime kick-off.

Having trained with Wednesday all season, the former Hull man jumped at the chance to re-sign for the Owls and said:

“I’ve waited patiently, trained hard and bided my time. I was offered a contract here and I couldn’t wait to sign it.

“There have been other options available to me but I wanted this to be my club.

“I enjoyed my time here last season, the manager told me to keep working hard and my chance could come.

“It did and I’m happy to be back. I could see the potential here last season and was very keen to come back and be a part of it again and work under the manager.”

As the Owls posted their eighth draw of the campaign, Olofinjana firmly believes that the wins will come.

With just four defeats from 12 games, Wednesday have proved a tough nut to crack in the Sky Bet Championship and Olofinjana has no doubts that his side will start to climb the league table.

He added: “We have a good group of players here, and it’s frustrating that we haven’t got that win.

“In ordinary circumstances, a point away in a derby game is a good point but we are disappointed today.

“Now we move on, we are a difficult side to beat but we have to turn these draws into wins. We have the players here who can do that and I am confident it will be done.”
