Chris Kirkland has scooped his second successive swfc.co.uk Player of the Month award.
The popular goalkeeper lifted the August title and has repeated the feat in September – and again by an overwhelming margin.
As per August, Kirkland received almost half of the vote from Wednesday fans having continued his excellent start to the season.
He said: “On a personal note I’m delighted, of course, and again I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“But the team is more important and we are all so determined to get that first win.
“The last two performances have seen a big improvement and we were so unfortunate not to win at Brighton.
“Training has been sharp ahead of the Ipswich game and hopefully we can get that win on Saturday in front of our own fans, who have been fantastic.
“The last thing we want to be doing going into the international break is stewing on a bad result.”
With both Player of the Month awards under the belt for 2013/14 so far, Kirkland says he will be more than happy to concede a third and more if it meant the team was enjoying an upward curve.
He added: “It’s great to win any award, especially from the fans, but I would rather somebody else won it if it means we are winning matches.
“While I am pleased with my form, I don’t want to have to make the saves because I want to see the action take place at the other end.
“But we all know we are really close and I can assure all our fans, on behalf of all the players, that we are doing everything possible to help get that win.”
The result of the September Player of the Month award is as follows:
1st: Chris Kirkland 47 per cent
2nd: Stephen McPhail 12 per cent
3rd: Atdhe Nuhiu 12 per cent
Thank you to all those who took time to vote.
