Sheffield Wednesday have lost their appeal to the FA relating to the dismissal of Jose Semedo at Bolton on Saturday.
The midfielder was shown a straight red card by referee Chris Foy following a challenge on Trotters captain Jay Spearing.
The decision was upheld at an FA meeting on Tuesday and Semedo will serve a three-match ban that will encompass games against Barnsley, Reading and Derby.
