New signing Matty Fryatt will go straight into the Wednesday squad that faces Doncaster at Hillsborough on Saturday – and Dave Jones is delighted with his latest acquisition.
The 28-year-old striker has joined the Owls on an emergency loan from Premiership Hull and Jones believes Fryatt has all the right credentials to make an impact in S6.
He said: “I’m pleased to bring another striker to the club. We have been watching and waiting for the time that Hull said Matty could go out on loan.
“We’ve been keeping tabs on him and we’re delighted we finally got the nod.
“He has a great strike record and we feel he will bring us something different that we haven’t got and we’re obviously hoping that he will bring us goals.
“The boy just wants to play regular football and we can give him that if he delivers the goods.”
Jones now faces the dilemma of handing Fryatt an immediate starting shirt or introducing him from the bench when Wednesday take on local rivals Rovers.
He added: “He goes straight into the squad for Saturday and we have to decide whether we start him as he came in half an hour before we trained or put him on the bench like we did with Leroy Lita and let him have a look at us and bring him on later.
“He has good character references from everybody who’s worked with him so now we’ve given him the stage it’s up to him to show what he can do.”
