Antonio in the mood

17 April 2014

Having put his injury concerns to bed, Michail Antonio has taken encouragement from the trio of games he has featured in since his return.

The wing ace was back with a bang at Leicester and fired the Owls level in the first half at King Power Stadium in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Since then, Antonio has provided a dangerous attacking edge for Wednesday against Forest and Blackburn and is aiming to continue on in the same vein.

He said: “It’s breath of fresh air to be back, I’ve been back three games and hopefully I can end this season on a positive.

“As a player you want to play as much as you can.

“I wanted to build on last year but injuries have stopped that so my aim is to finish this season as strongly as possible and hit the ground running next season.

“You want to show people what you can do and you can’t do that in the physio room.”

With three games under his belt this month, Antonio is in the mood to impress as the season approaches its conclusion.

And as the Owls travel to Bournemouth on Good Friday, Antonio wants to pick up three points on the South coast and add to his personal goal tally.

He continued: “I’m happy with my form, normally it takes you a couple of game but I feel I’ve managed to slot straight back in.

“Coming up from League One, you’re just looking to stay in the division but Bournemouth have done better than that and they will be at us on Friday.

“We’re ten points above the relegation zone, but we still want that one last win to make it mathematical but there is a good buzz around the club and in the dressing room.

“We believe we can go anywhere and win on our day, as we have proved. I’m sure Friday will be one of our most difficult challenges this season because they’ll be desperate for three points, but so are we.

“We’ll have a big support there with us, like always, and we’re going there to win.”
