Class of 84' success!

11 April 2014

For one special evening at Hillsborough, the Owls’ promotion-winning team of 1984 reunited yesterday for a one-off charity event.

The Class of 84’ saw Wednesday legend David Hirst compere a memorable evening where members of the squad looked back on that successful campaign almost 30 years on.

Tickets quickly sold out for the occasion with Owls fans snapping up the full allocation in the club’s 1867 Lounge.

Former manager Howard Wilkinson was also in attendance and spoke highly of the squad that ensured Wednesday returned to the First Division.

As well as hearing tales from the players and staff, supporters in attendance were able to put their questions to the top table, enjoy a fine performance from comedian Gary Marshall and bid for memorabilia during the silent auction.

All proceeds will now go to the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.

Ahead of the evening, Wednesday Player spoke to Owls legend and former captain Mick Lyons. The full interview is now available on Player and Wednesdayites can also watch a short clip on the Owls’ official YouTube channel below.
