Chelsea loanee Sam Hutchinson could return to the Owls’ engine room on Saturday.
The energetic midfielder has recovered from a knee injury and illness and has returned to full training this week.
Head coach Stuart Gray is pleased to welcome back the 24-year-old, who will come into contention for the Championship meeting with Blackburn at Hillsborough.
Gray said: “We have some positives on the team news front with Sam Hutchinson back in training.
“We went into the Forest game down to the bare bones and Sam has come back in and trained and hopefully he will play some part on Saturday.
“There are no fresh knocks, just a few bruises from the other night against Forest.”
Elsewhere, defensive duo Glenn Loovens and Oguchi Onyewu are likely to remain sidelined.
Gray has confirmed Loovens (hamstring) will miss the game while Onyewu (back) will have a late fitness test on the day of the game.
While Gray is not ruling out involvement by the USA international the head coach has said the defender will not be rushed back into the squad and believes a return the following week against Bournemouth is more likely.
He added: “Loovens won’t be available for Saturday but Oguchi has an outside chance and will have a late fitness test on the morning of the game.
“We’ll have to see how that goes but I’m planning without them at the moment.”
