Palmer's prize

9 April 2014

Liam Palmer has won the swfc.co.uk March Player of the Month award.

The utility man, who has looked equally at home at right back and in midfield, has scooped the prize with over 20 per cent of the vote.

The 22-year-old has come to the fore this season at Hillsborough, making 42 appearances in all competitions and becoming one of the Owls’ most dependable players in 2013/14.

In a close fought vote, Palmer topped the poll with 22 per cent.

Glenn Loovens (12 per cent), Atdhe Nuhiu (ten per cent), Caolan Lavery (nine per cent) and Kieran Lee (nine per cent) all figured high.

Palmer said: “I’m really pleased to win this, it means a lot.

“I know I’ve come second and third a few times in this vote throughout the season, so to come first is something I’m really proud of.

“When an award comes around like this and it’s from the fans, it’s always special because they’re the ones who come and watch the lads week in, week out.

“I want to say a big thank you to all the fans who voted for me and for all the support this season.”

The Owls talent is thoroughly enjoying his productive run in the team this term and continued:

“This has been by far my best season. I had a good spell on loan with Tranmere and learned a lot there but this is my team, it’s here where I’ve always wanted to play.

“Now I need to kick on and help Wednesday finish this season as strongly as possible.”
