Charlton hit back from two goals down at Hillsborough to claim a hugely significant 3-2 win in their bid to avoid relegation.
The Owls hit the ground running in the Easter Monday clash with Atdhe Nuhiu and Chris Maguire striking early to give Wednesday the advantage.
But the pendulum soon swung in favour of Charlton, when Man of the Match Marvin Sordell hit the first of his impressive treble, moments after falling 2-0 behind.
The Addicks hitman, on loan from Bolton, added a second on the stroke of half time and completed the turnaround after the break to claim his hat-trick, the matchball and a priceless three points.
It was Charlton who were desperate for the points, in the thick of a relegation battle, but it was Wednesday who flew out of the traps and notched an early goal.
Miguel Llera chipped over the top for Nuhiu and the in-form striker hit a sweet half volley that went in off the post, leaving Ben Hamer helpless in the Addicks goal.
To compound matters for the visitors, Wednesday doubled their lead moments later in an explosive opening.
Nuhiu squared for Maguire, who regained his balance in the area before blasting beyond the outstretched arms of Hamer.
Charlton, though, were to have their say in the frantic start and halved the deficit immediately, when Sordell raced through on goal and applied a cute finish to divert past Chris Kirkland.
The game was high tempo, with chances coming thick and fast and Wednesday asking most of the questions.
Kieran Lee came within a whisker of netting his maiden strike but fired wide from Michail Antonio’s low centre, with Hamer rooted to the spot.
Having weathered the early storm and kept the difference to just one goal, the Addicks hauled themselves back in the game in the stroke of half time.
It was that man Sordell again, who controlled in the area a thumped low and hard across Kirkland to put the visitors back on terms.
Rejuvenated after a slow start to the game, Charlton threatened first following the restart with Sordell pulling the trigger on the angle inside the area, but Kirkland made a good block at his near post.
But the outstanding Addicks striker wasn’t to be denied his hat-trick and just past the hour, Sordell completed treble.
The Bolton loanee took a through ball into his stride before clipping over Kirkland to put his side on course for three valuable points.
The momentum had swung the way of the visitors, who were pressing for a fourth as Jordan Cousins saw his stinging drive deflected wide for a corner.
Late pressure could not bring about an equaliser for Wednesday, as the Addicks held on to move further away from the Championship trapdoor.
