The Owls’ Under-18s went down 2-1 in a close-fought contest with Brighton on the South Coast on Saturday.
After conceding an early goal, Wednesday hit back through Simon Hanna and went on to dominate proceedings but just fell short of another breakthrough.
The visitors pushed for that elusive winner only to be undone by a sucker punch 15 minutes from the end.
Coach Steve Haslam said: “Brighton posed us some problems today with their system, particularly in the first half, but we got to grips with them after a couple of tactical switches and looked threatening going forward.
“We are disappointed to lose but there are positives to take from the game with Simon Hanna continuing his excellent form and Jack Stobbs a constant threat to Brighton."
