Nuhiu confident ahead of Clarets clash

  • Atdhe Nuhiu confident Owls can advance in Capital One Cup
  • Wednesday face Burnley at Turf Moor in round two
  • The big striker is delighted with the Owls' start to 2014/15

In-form striker Atdhe Nuhiu has said the Owls will head to Turf Moor full of confidence on Tuesday as Wednesday face Burnley in round two of the Capital One Cup.

The Owls have made a solid start to the new term, undefeated after four Championship outings as well as making progress in the League Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Notts County in round one.

Following victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday – a game which saw Nuhiu net twice at The Riverside – the towering striker is aiming to upset the Premier League Clarets.

When asked can Wednesday advance at Turf Moor, he answered: “Why not? I always believe that we can win.

“We will play against a Premier League team so there is even more motivation. We have to show what we can do but I’m not scared of playing against them.

“Of course, the most important thing is our league games. We have started well and want that to carry on and winning our cup games can only be a good thing for us.”

The 25-year-old feels he is wiser for having a full season under his belt in the Championship and that he will only go from strength to strength.

Having hit three goals in five games and already forged a promising partnership with new addition Stevie May, Nuhiu is delighted by his and the Owls’ early progress.

He continued: “This is just the beginning. There is a long season to go. We have dreams and I hope the dreams come true.

“I think I adapted in the last six months of last season when we had a big run. I know the teams and players who play against me more than last year.

“I’m very happy to be here. I feel very settled now and the players and the manager give me confidence.”
