Bullen disappointed with Owls display

  • Hillsborough clash ends in 3-1 defeat

Lee Bullen has spoken of his disappointment following the Under-21s’ home defeat to Huddersfield.

The Owls went down 3-1 at Hillsborough on Monday night and was displeased in particular with the manner of the league loss.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s not the fact that we lost the game but the way we lost it, that’s the most disappointing thing.

“They were better than us, they wanted it more than us and we can have no complaints over the scoreline.

“All in all, I can’t defend our performance. We were second all over the park and I don’t remember anyone winning their individual battles.”

Bullen went on to say that while the Wednesday youngsters have rightly taken the plaudits for much of the campaign, they must maintain those standards – or face the consequences.

He added: “They have had plenty of praise this season and they have deserved it but this game is all about consistency, they have to perform week in, week out.

“We are playing here at Hillsborough and you never know who is watching – the manager, the chief executive, the chairman and scouts from other clubs.

“This is when you should be stepping up your game, but we didn’t, we went the other way, which is why I feel so disappointed.”
